“ By far some of the best sushi in the central Texas area, on par with heavy hitters like Uchi Austin. Order the specials, sit at the bar. Will is an excellent chef who know how to source and prepare great sushi. You will not regret it! ”
“ Dropped in for dinner and was pleasantly surprised by how nice this place is! Even though the prior reviews and name have an extensive sushi menu - I wanted something else. The noodles were so good! Nabeyaki Udon - Thick white noodles, fish cake, shrimp tempura & egg in a seafood broth. Whoever fried the shrimp tempura knew exactly how to do it right. It was filling but not too heavy. Broth was great. ”

Whether you’re a sushi fan or just looking for a delicious meal, Otsu delivers. Give it a try—you won’t be disappointed! ”
“ These Native New Yorkers were pleasantly surprised! Best in San Marcos, don’t let the poor reviews deter you. The fish and nigiri were fresh and delectable. Good balance of rice to fish ratio. My hubby was raving about the Firefly squid and Hokkaido uni - both which are extremely rare to procure and execute. Flavor profiles were stronger in nigiri than the rolls in our opinion. However, we’re biased since we gravitate towards nigiri and sashimi more. The chutoro and otoro were good as well, nice scoring skills - melts in your mouth butter type. Oysters were on point too and dressed well. It’s refreshing to have quality seafood here in Texas. Give them a try! ”
“ I am absolutely delighted with my experience at this Japanese restaurant! From the moment I stepped in, I was transported back to my time in Japan through the authentic flavors and ambiance. The attention to detail in each dish was remarkable, capturing the essence of traditional Japanese cuisine. The flavors were spot-on, reminiscent of the delicious meals I enjoyed during my stay in Japan. The staff's warmth and hospitality added to the wonderful dining experience. I left with a heart full of nostalgia and a satisfied palate. A definite 5 out of 5 stars for bringing back those cherished memories in the most delicious way possible! ”
“ Hidden gem in Central Texas. The food is up there with the best in Austin and San Antonio. They have fresh fish shipped almost daily directly from Japan. The staff are amazing and accommodating while making sure you’re always taken care of. Their menu selection is huge and their specials are some to the most luxurious rolls for an insane affordable price. This place deserves all the success that they’re eventually bound to get. We’re here every week because nothing compares to the quality and price that Otsu offers. ”
“ We drive from New Braunfels to have sushi at Otsu Asian Bistro & Sushi Bar because there is no decent sushi restaurant in New Braunfels. Their sushi is super delicious and fresh! Our favorite rolls are Cherry Blossom roll and Disco Roll. Will (the owner/sushi chef) is so awesome, we like to sit at the sushi bar and chat with him. The front desk and all staff there are very sweet as well. Highly recommended!! ”
“ This is the best sushi place we’ve ever been to. The place is also very tidy and clean. The dishes are tasty and beautiful. The plates are set beautifully and special. There are also other dishes other than sushi that people could try. Best restaurant ever. ”
